Rubbrband: Early Access

A great Thursday distraction. I guess I landed an early access pass to this new Ai program call Rubbrband. I connected with a film and Ai artist Brandon Falk on LinkedIn. He has an unusual profile on what is typically a very corporate landscape (He created this film https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_krTk7eghU)  We started talking about Ai and engaged with each other’s content. He suggested trying Rubbrband, and am finding it is similar to the node base ComfyUi workflow that I have been following. I have much to learn in this new space, especially the benefits of LoRAs and Checkpoints. It seems very similar to Shake, which was a node base composting software back in the day. Or more recently Nuke, which was the latest node base compositing software.

I have been trying to bridge my skill-set with the new tools out in the industry, Brandon happened to have a quick workflow he shared. Things seemed less intimidating. I took my industry knowledge of lighting, film, photography and 3D along with my job experience at Protolabs in manufacturing and materials and applied it to the workflow, and a new product photography workflow was created. I can control the material, lighting, reflections, and shadows in the image.

I utilized an existing style, and changed the prompt; thermoplastic elastomer, TPU powder 70-A, soft texture, flexible and non-reflective material, hard ground shadow, key light above product, 3D SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING, product photography

Then I moved onto trying out the basic workflow. The nodes and the functionality is very similar to node based compositing, where you create a workflow and plug in along the way.

I will be diving into the Quick Start Guide and some tutorials to learn the ropes. More to come from this workflow.
